Tri-City Travels to Fargo for Battle with Force

FARGO, ND. – The Tri-City Storm travels to Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND for back-to-back matchups with the Fargo Force this week. Tonight’s road game between the Storm and the Force is scheduled to begin at 7:05pm CT.


Tri-City (4-5-0-0) snapped a five-game winless streak in Saturday’s 5-3 home victory over the Lincoln Stars. Nick Roukounakis, Graham Gamache, and Cameron O’Neill scored the team’s first three goals of the game in the opening five minutes of Saturday’s 1st period. Ryan Smith and Dane Dowiak each netted a goal to increase the Storm’s lead during the 2nd period. Karlis Mezsargs recorded the win in net for the Storm after stopping 20 of Lincoln’s 23 shots on net. With the two-goal victory, the Storm has now defeated the Stars in sixteen of the last eighteen home games played in the rivalry. Scoring leaders for Tri-City through the first nine games of the 2022-2023 regular season include Kieran Cebrian (4), Graham Gamache (4), Sebastian Törnqvist (3), Cameron O’Neill (2), Trevor Connelly (2), Tanner Adams (2), Nick Roukounakis (2), and Dane Dowiak (2). The Storm will face the Force eight times during the 2022-2023 regular season, including twice at the 2023 USHL Frosty Cup in Frisco, Texas. Tri-City dropped the opening meeting of the season between the two Western Conference opponents on October 20th by a final score of 4-0. It was the Storm’s first trip to Scheels Arena this season, and was the only time the team was shut out during the opening nine games of the season. The Storm will return to action tomorrow night for another road game against the Force.

Fargo (6-2-0-1) hosts the Storm tonight at Scheels Arena as the 1st place team in the USHL’s Western Conference standings. The Force has accumulated thirteen points in nine games played this season. Fargo posted a five-goal victory on home ice over the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night. The Force dropped the opening game of the weekend series against the Musketeers by a final score of 4-0 last Friday night. Verner Miettinen (2), Cole Knuble, Kyle Smolen, Anthony Menghini, and Brian Skalos each scored in Fargo’s 7-2 win over Sioux City on Saturday. Matej Marinov recorded the victory in net for the Force after making 34 saves on 36 shots on net. Scoring leaders for Fargo entering this week’s home series against the Storm include Cole Knuble (6), Verner Miettinen (5), Anthony Menghini (5), Charlie Russell (3), Kyle Smolen (2), Tanner Walos (2), Dakota MacIntosh (2), and Jakob Stender (2). Fargo has outscored opponents 36-19 this season. The Force have scored the second-most goals in the Western Conference, and Fargo has allowed the least amount of goals of any team in the league this season. Fargo will host the Storm again tomorrow in a rematch of tonight’s matchup. The Force will visit the Viaero Center on March 24th, March 25th, and March 26th. Fargo will play three road games next weekend following this week’s home series against the Storm. Fargo will travel to face the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday, November 11th before completing the weekend with back-to-back games against the Omaha Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena on Saturday, November 12th, and Sunday, November 13th.
