GENEVA, ILLINOIS – Two iconic promotional nights are on the schedule this weekend at Fox Valley Ice Arena as the Chicago Steel (7-4-0-0; 14 pts.) face off against the Green Bay Gamblers (5-4-1-0; 11 pts.) for Elvis Night on Friday, Nov. 4 and match up against the Madison Capitols (4-5-0-0; 8 pts.) Saturday, Nov. 5 for Wayne’s World 30th Anniversary Night and a Post-Game Skate with the Steel.

The Steel celebrate the King of Rock ‘n Roll on Friday night as an Elvis impersonator at Fox Valley Ice Arena serenades Steel fans with timeless classics. Fans can join in on the hip-shaking fun with tunes throughout the night with promotions like “Shake Your pELVIS”, a Rusty Dance Party and more.

Don’t miss your chance to Party On with the Steel for Wayne’s World 30th Anniversary Night on Saturday night. Just a few miles from where Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar hosted Wayne’s World in Aurora, this night will be special to local fans of the classic 1992 film. Fans will compete in a Donut Eating Contest, Aurora Trivia and play “Who Said That” in identifying lines from either Wayne or Garth.

After the game action concludes, fans are invited onto the ice to participate in a Post-Game Skate with the Steel with skate rentals available for $4. Steel players will be on the ice to sign autographs and take photographs with skaters.

The Steel recorded a historic period in the club’s lone game last weekend, scoring seven goals in the opening frame of a 7-1 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers at Resch Center on Oct. 29. The offensive showcase matched the highest scoring single period in Steel history, a seven-goal second period on Jan. 9, 2021 in an 11-3 win over Team USA.

Chicago rookie Macklin Celebrini notched his first career USHL hat trick in the win and added an assist for a season best, four-point night. The Boston University commit shares third in the USHL points race with 14 points (9G, 5A) through his first nine appearances as a member of the Steel.

Green Bay’s lone goal in the 7-1 loss against the Steel was scored by forward Eli Sebastian, his fifth consecutive contest reaching the back of the net for the Gamblers. The Northeastern University-bound skater is eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft but was not one of the five Green Bay skaters listed on the preliminary watch list released by NHL Central Scouting in October. Gamblers forward Jayson Shaugabay earned a ‘B’-rating while forwards Jimmy Clark, Cooper Conway, Nick Vantassell and Mikey DeAngelo were all listed as ‘C’-rated prospects.

The Madison Capitols make the trek to Fox Valley Ice Arena for the first time this season and the second of 10 total matchups between the Steel and Capitols during the 2022-2023 campaign. It is their first visit to Geneva since knocking off the Steel in last season’s best-of-three Eastern Conference Semifinal series.

First-year forward Mikko Matikka leads the Capitols in points through the opening portion of the season with 14 points (7G, 7A) in nine games played. Second on the Caps points list is New York Islanders prospect Quinn Finley, a 6-foot-tall, 178-pound forward who returns from the Eastern Conference championship roster of 2021-2022. The Suamico, Wis., native played 39 games for the Steel during the 2020-2021 season contributing six points (1G, 5A) in that span.

Chicago never trailed in a 6-4 win on Oct. 8 at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena in the first clash between the Steel and Capitols this season. Forward Nick Moldenhauer registered his first career UHSL hat trick in the road win while netminder Jack Stark made 42 stops in the crease, matching his career best.

After the two-game home weekend, Chicago ventures out for two road games with a Friday, Nov. 11 game in Wisconsin against the Capitols before a Saturday, Nov. 12 contest against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at ImOn Ice Arena in Iowa.
