November 2, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL)Everett Silvertips News Release

WINNIPEG, MB – The Everett Silvertips dropped a back-and-forth affair in their first visit to Winnipeg in franchise history, as the ICE netted three third period goals for a 5-4 final.

Winnipeg native Ryan Hofer opened the scoring for the Silvertips at 14:36 in the first period, powering his way to the net and burying a slick backhander for his seventh goal of the season. The ICE claimed the lead heading into the first intermission, netting two goals within 1:16 of each other late in the frame off the sticks of Connor McClennon and Ben Zloty.

Austin Roest potted his team-leading 11th goal of the season at 10:24 in the second period, as Winnipeg netminder Daniel Hauser kicked in a rebound for an Everett powerplay tally. Caden Zaplitny, the Silvertips’ other Winnipeg-born player, tucked in his first goal of the season at 13:16 in the second period to give the Tips a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.

Winnipeg knotted the score at three at 1:35 in the third period, as Owen Pederson scored just as a penalty on the Silvertips left over from the second period had expired. McClennon converted his second of the game on the powerplay at 6:08 in the third to give the ICE a 4-3 advantage.

Olen Zellweger pulled Everett even at 11:31, beating Hauser under the right arm for his sixth goal of the season. Just two minutes later, Zach Benson tallied the game-winner for Winnipeg.

Braden Holt stopped 29 of 34 shots, while Hauser turned aside 37 of 41.

Everett travels to play the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday. Live coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. PT on KRKO Radio. Tickets to the Silvertips’ homecoming on Nov. 13 against the Calgary Hitmen are available.
