Contribute $16.50 to Fighting Cancer
November 1, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa – As the Waterloo Black Hawks prepare for Hockey Fights Cancer Assist Night this Saturday, the team announced Tuesday that the American Cancer Society will be the organization featured throughout November as part of the $16.50 Campaign, presented by Slumberland Furniture, 1650 The Fan, and the Hawks.
For more than 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been a leader in cancer research funding, patient support, and prevention awareness. The Black Hawks had already committed to helping the cause through Hockey Fights Cancer Assist Night on November 5th, presented by Mike Molstead Motors. During that matchup against the Sioux Falls Stampede, the Black Hawks will wear lavender jerseys which will be auctioned after the game.
“Whether you have the winning bid on one of these jerseys or not, I hope all Black Hawks fans will consider showing their support,” said Joe Greene, Black Hawks president of business operations. “The $16.50 Campaign is an outlet to do that within any budget, and when we all work together, we can make amazing things happen.”
The $16.50 Campaign is a crowdsourcing effort offering Black Hawks fans and KCNZ listeners the chance to focus on a different good cause each month during hockey season. From now through the end of November, anyone and everyone is encouraged to contribute the suggested amount of $16.50, with the goal that 100 people will answer the call in that time.
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of 1.5 million volunteers dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. ACS is the preeminent cancer-fighting organization in the United States through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. The organization has helped lead the evolution in the way the world prevents, detects, treats, and thinks about cancer.
To make a donation of $16.50 (or any amount), fans can link to the ACS online donation portal through waterlooblackhawks.com or 1650thefan.com. A new organization will be highlighted monthly through April.
