Americans Continue Road Trip in Prince Albert

Tri-City will continue their East Division road trip tonight as they take on the Prince Albert Raiders.
The two teams last met on October 25, 2019 when the Americans suffered a 3-2 overtime loss in Kennewick. Three players on Tri-City’s current roster were in the lineup that night: Ian Ferguson, Tyson Greenway, and Marc Lajoie. Tri-City last played in Prince Albert on November 16, 2018 as they fell 3-1 to the Raiders.
The Americans most recently played on Sunday, as the Pats ended Tri-City’s four-game winning streak with a 7-3 victory in Regina.
Tri-City struggled to shut down top NHL draft prospect Connor Bedard as he collected two goals and three assists against the Americans. Tyson Greenway, Jordan Gavin, and Parker Bell scored Tri-City’s goals. Gavin’s goal makes him the new WHL rookie points leader with three goals and 11 assists. Tomas Suchanek started in net, but was relieved after letting in 6 goals on 15 shots. Nick Avakyan finished the game, turning aside 14 of 15 shots.
Both teams come into tonight’s game looking to get back in the win column. Tri-City ended their four-game winning streak on Sunday in Regina, while Prince Albert has lost their last three.
Tri-City currently boasts the best power play in the WHL with 30.91% success while Prince Albert is 18th at 15.3%. The Americans penalty kill is 20th in the WHL at 71.1% and the Raiders are 13th at 79.4%.
The Americans will be missing Jordan Gavin, the WHL’s leading rookie scorer, for the rest of the trip. Gavin, still just 15-years-old with a late 2006 birthday, will compete for Hockey Canada Black at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge beginning this week.
