Cougars Edged 5-4 at Home to Thunderbirds

October 29, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL)Prince George Cougars News Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Koehn Ziemmer continued his terrific season scoring twice, but it was Jared Davidson and Jordan Gustafson combining for four goals, and ultimately led to the Seattle Thunderbirds winning their ninth in a row 5-4 over the Prince George Cougars.

The Cougars started the scoring with Koehn Ziemmer back-handing home his eight of the season just over six minutes in to put them ahead after the opening 20.

In the second period, the Thunderbirds were able to get two of their own from both Lucas Ciona and Jared Davidson to put them ahead 2-1. Blake Eastman was then able to get a feed from Cayden Glover and raced to the goal and roofed it over Scott Ratzlaff to tie the game. The Thunderbirds though were able to counter with a goal of their own with 29 seconds remaining on a 3 on 2 and put them ahead after 40 minutes.

The Thunderbirds were able to tack on to their lead as Jordan Gustafson and Jared Davidson found the back of the net to put Seattle up 5-2. Prince George got two back from Fischer O’Brien and Koehn Ziemmer late in the third, but it was too little, too late as the Thunderbirds held on for the 5-4 win.
