Rogers Nominated for League One Individual Awards
October 27, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1) – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. — Arthur Rogers had an incredible breakout season in Northern Colorado this year. In his first professional season, the Londoner started all 30 League One matches, broke the League record for most chances created in a single season, and was a consistent and reliable part of the Hailstorm’s defensive and offensive core.
The League announced today that Rogers has been nominated for two year-end individual awards. He is up for 2022 USL League One Defender of the Year and 2022 USL League One MVP. Both awards are up for voting between Rogers and two others.
The Defender of the Year candidates are Rogers, Jalen Crisler of the Richmond Kickers and Daniel Navarro of the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
Crisler played in 28 games for the Kickers, scoring two goals and making 154 clearances. That was good for the second-most clearances in the League, following only North Carolina’s Jordan Skelton who had 162. Navarro played in 16 games for the Red Wolves, had one goal, 47 clearances and 891 successful passes. Rogers scored one goal on the season, more often acting as a distributor than an attacker. He won 31 tackles, made 66 clearances, intercepted 29 times and made 1,017 successful passes.
The MVP candidates are Rogers and two members of the Richmond Kickers, Jonathan Bolanos and Emiliano Terzaghi.
Terzaghi was the Golden Boot winner this season, scoring 17 goals for the Kickers in 29 games. Bolanos was the season’s assist leader, making 11 assists. Rogers followed close behind with 9 assists. Rogers not only played in, but started every game for the Hailstorm this season. He was a consistent set-piece specialist for his side and broke the league record for most chances created in a single season with 82.
Rogers is the only Northern Colorado representative nominated for any League One individual award. The other awards are 2022 USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. The winners of all the individual awards are scheduled to be announced throughout the first week of November.
