Wildcats Versus Olympiques Friday Night, Halloween Game Sunday

October 27, 2022 – Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)Moncton Wildcats News Release

The Moncton Wildcats – one of the hottest teams in the QMJHL – are back on home ice Friday night versus Gatineau, then it’s Halloween hockey on a scarey Sunday Funday, complete with with costumes & prizes!

The Olympiques are in WildTown on Friday night and feature some locals leading the way – Moncton’s own Cole Cormier & Samuel Savoie are key pieces on a strong Gatineau squad. Cormier leads the way in team scoring with 9 goals in 12 games. Samuel Savoie had a taste of the NHL at Blackhawks Training Camp and has returned to join the Olympiques attack. Gatineau sit 2nd in the Western Conference and have won 7 of their last 10. They feature 9 NHL-drafted players on their roster and are built to contend for a ‘Q’ title.

The Wildcats sit third in the Eastern Conference and are currently on a roll that has seen them earn 11 out 12 possible points in their last 6 games and rocket up the QMJHL standings. Stellar goaltending and a balanced attack have been the keys to their success. Goalie duo Vincent Filion & Jacob Steinman have been steady and spectacular when needed over the last 2 weeks. Offensively, the goal scoring has been spread around as 4 Wildcats have 5 goals each – Yoan Loshing, Etienne Morin, Max Barbashev & Thomas Auger. Veteran Charles Beaudoin has 10 points in 10 games and is only heating up – 5 of his points are in the last 2 games.
