Steel Visit Green Bay for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

GENEVA, ILLINOIS – The Chicago Steel (6-4-0-0; 12 pts.) make a road trip to Wisconsin this weekend for a clash against the Green Bay Gamblers (5-3-1-0; 11 pts.) Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3:05 pm CT at Resch Center.

Last weekend, the Steel split two games against the Youngstown Phantoms with a 5-4 victory on Oct. 21 and a 5-0 loss on Oct. 22 at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
In the lone weekend win for Chicago, Steel defenseman Anthony Dowd registered a career-best three points (1G, 2A), improving his season total to one goal and six helpers over 10 games played. A season ago, the Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., native recorded 15 points (6G, 9A) in 61 appearances.
After playing both games against Youngstown, Steel netminder Christian Manz has totaled the fifth-most minutes played among USHL goaltenders with 356 through the first 10 games of the season. Manz, committed to Augustana University, is 3-3-0-0 between the pipes with a 3.54 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage during the 2022-2023 campaign.
The Steel lead the USHL with 43 goals scored through 10 games and boast the league’s two leading scorers, Jayden Perron (4G, 11A) and Nick Moldenhauer (9G, 4A).
The Gamblers enter the Eastern Conference clash on a four-game winning streak. With first-year head coach and general manager Mike Leone at the helm, Green Bay is guaranteed to close out the month of October with a winning record.
Currently leading the USHL in goals among defensemen is Gamblers blueliner Artyom Levshunov with four tallies in his first nine career USHL games. The Zholbin, Belarus, native scored against Chicago in his first appearance against the Steel on Oct. 1 at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
The Gamblers roster includes five players to watch listed on the preliminary 2023 NHL Draft watch list, release by NHL Central Scouting on Oct. 25. Forwards Jason Shaugabay (B-Rating), Mikey DeAngelo (C-Rating), Jimmy Clark (C-Rating), Nicholas VanTassell (C-Rating) and Cooper Conway (C-Rating) were all listed by NHL Central Scouting.
Chicago currently owns a 67-65-6-3 mark in the regular season against the Gamblers, the most played series in Steel franchise history against a single USHL opponent.
Following the trip to Wisconsin, the Steel will begin the month of November with a pair of games on home ice at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Friday, Nov. 4 against the Gamblers and Saturday, Nov. 5 versus the defending Eastern Conference Champions, the Madison Capitols.
The Nov. 4 contest against Green Bay is Elvis Night with a special appearance by The King. The following night is Wayne’s World 30th Anniversary Night and a Post-Game Skate with the Steel.
