The Dumais Show Continues vs the Titan

The Dumais Show Continues vs the Titan

October 23, 2022 – Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Fans attending Sunday afternoon’s Mooseheads game against Acadie-Bathurst were treated to a dominant performance by Jordan Dumais at Scotiabank Centre.

The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect put on a show with four goals and one assist to lead Halifax to a 6-3 victory over the Titan. The outburst by the third-year forward included an absolute determined solo effort on his hat trick goal that will get heavy rotation in the next QMJHL highlight reel. His five points bring his season total to 22 which is just one back of league scoring leader Justin Gill of the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Dumais is now tied with Timo Meier and Rane Carnegie for 22nd in Mooseheads franchise scoring history with 160 career points.

Markus Vidicek also had a big day at the office with two goals and two assists as the duo combined for the entire goal scoring output for the Herd. Vidicek is tied for fifth in QMJHL scoring with 18 points. Mathieu Cataford had two assists while Brady Schultz, Attilio Biasca, Jake Furlong and Stephane Huard Jr each had single helpers. Goalie Brady James picked up his first win of the season by making 22 saves.

Halifax jumped back ahead of the idle Moncton Wildcats for first place in the Maritimes Division by improving to 6-1-1-1 and the team has grabbed 14 out of a possible 18 points to start the 2022-23 season.

Acadie-Bathurst made the game interesting by fighting back in what was a slow second period for the Mooseheads. Halifax had built a 3-1 lead through 20 minutes of play but back-to-back goals from Ty Higgins and Dylan Andrews evened the score at 3-3 with 3:39 remaining in the period. It was only seconds later that Dumais took the puck and battled his way to the hat trick and regained the lead for Halifax. The Dumais tally came 39 seconds after Andrews had tied the game. Vidicek added an insurance marker on the power play early in the third period and Dumais capped off the scoring with an empty net goal. Ben Allison had the only other goal for Acadie-Bathurst.

The victory wraps up a weekend homestand for the Herd, who dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday night. The Mooseheads will hop on the bus early Monday morning when they depart for their first road trip through the province of Quebec this season. Halifax visits Blainville-Boisbriand on Wednesday, then it’s off to Val d’Or on Friday and Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday.

The next home game for the Mooseheads is Thursday, November 3rd at 7pm when Halifax hosts Baie-Comeau for Student Night at Scotiabank Centre. Tickets are just $10 for fans with valid Student ID. Tickets are on sale now at TicketAtlantic.com
