ICE CHIPS

The Winnipeg ICE conclude their eight-game road trip tonight in Kelowna.

The ICE are coming off a 5-3 victory last night in Kamloops where Carson Lambos and Owen Pederson each had a goal and three assists. Matthew Savoie, Connor McClennon (shorthanded) and Zach Benson also scored while improving their record to a WHL best 10-1. Daniel Hauser made 42 saves for his eighth consecutive victory this season.


Winnipeg leads all WHL teams with six shorthanded goals this season.

The ICE have a 6-1 record on their current eight game road trip and are currently playing their final four games in a span of five nights (Tuesday @ Victoria, Wednesday @ Vancouver, last night @ Kamloops, tonight @ Kelowna).

Carson Lambos was named the 24th Captain in ICE franchise history on October 6th. The 19-year-old returned from Minnesota Wild Training Camp where he appeared in three NHL preseason games. Connor McClennon, Owen Pederson and Ben Zloty were named alternate captains for 2022-23.

ICE VS ROCKETS

Tonight is the only game scheduled during the regular season between the ICE and Rockets.

The last time these two teams played was Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Connor McClennon scored twice while Liam Hughes made 32 saves in a 3-1 victory at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

The last time the ICE played in Kelowna was Saturday, December 2, 2017. Kole Lind scored the game winning goal for the Rockets in a 5-2 decision.

Daniel Hauser, Gage Alexander and Dawson Cowan combined for 12 shutouts. The WHL record for most shutouts in a season belongs to the 2003-04 Kelowna Rockets when Kelly Guard and Derek Yeomans combined for 14.
