Tigers Acquire Goaltender from Silvertips

Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers made a trade with the Everett Silvertips Tuesday morning. The Tigers sent third year forward Oren Shtrom (Gilbert, AZ) to Everett in exchange for 2004 born goaltender Evan May (Nanaimo, BC). The Tigers also sent a pair of WHL Draft picks, an 8th round pick in the 2023 Draft and 9th round pick in 2024, Everett sends a 5th round pick in the 2025 Draft along with May.
May, 18, Has played in two games with the Silvertips in his career with a record of 0-0-1 with an .875 save percentage and a 3.69 GAA. Evan also spent time with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League where he was 1-12-3 in 17 games with an .884 save percentage and a 4.31 GAA. May spent his minor hockey with the North Island Silvertips U18AAA program in the 19-20 & 20-21 season.
Shtrom, 18, spent three seasons in the Orange & Black, scoring 4 points (4 assists) in 7 WHL games this season, while having 19 points (9 goals & 10 assists) with 10 penalty minutes and had a -18 +/- in the 21-22 season. Shtrom departs Medicine Hat with 89 games played accumulating 14 goals, 23 assists for 37 points along with 16 PIMS & a career +/- of -6.
Tigers Head Coach & General Manager Desjardins says Shtrom will be missed.

Desjardins adds that they’re looking forward to May’s arrival in Medicine Hat.
“We’d like to welcome Evan and his family to Medicine Hat,” he says. “We’re looking forward to seeing him on the ice this week and become a Tiger.”
May will be joining the Tigers soon, while the team will be back on the ice today and preparing for a pair of home games this weekend.
