Tiger-Cats Leonard and White Named CFL Top Performers of the Week

The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday, that Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Richard Leonard (pictured above) and receiver Tim White (pictured below) have been named the league’s Top Performers for week 19.


Leonard, 31, matched a career-high with nine total tackles and posted two interceptions in Hamilton’s 35-32 win over the Calgary Stampeders Friday night at McMahon Stadium. The 5’8, 168-pound native of Miami, Florida highlighted his impressive night with a 64-yard interception-return touchdown to give Hamilton the lead late in the first half. Leonard currently ranks among the league leaders (tie-4th) with four interceptions on the season.

White, 28, registered six receptions for 106 yards and one receiving touchdown in Hamilton’s 35-32 win over the Calgary Stampeders Friday night at McMahon Stadium. The 5’10, 185-pound native of Santa Clarita, California had two catches on the Tiger-Cats’ game-winning drive, including a 42-yard reception and a seven-yard touchdown reception to put Hamilton ahead in the dying seconds of the game. White currently ranks among the league-leaders with 85 receptions (1st), 135 targets (tie-1st), 1,152 receiving yards (5th) and eight touchdown receptions (tie-5th).

Montreal’s Adarius Pickett, third in voting, joins Leonard (1st) and White (2nd) to round out this week’s Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges made up of Matt Dunigan and Marshall Ferguson of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS, who independently send their selections to the CFL league office.
