Lumberjacks Fall to Green Bay 6-3 in the Opener of a Two-Game Series on the Road

The Muskegon Lumberjacks finally found their offense on Friday night, but it came after the Green Bay Gamblers scored the first six goals, including four in the second period.
Three Muskegon tallies in the third period didn’t make a dent, and the Jacks fell to the Gamblers 6-3 in the first of a two-game series at Green Bay’s Resch Arena.
Muskegon fell to 3-3-0 on the season while Green Bay improved to 3-2-1. The two teams will go at it again on Saturday night.
Jimmy Clark led the way for Green Bay with a pair of goals. Matthew DiMarsico added one goal and two assists.
Green Bay’s Jayson Shaugabay scored the only goal of the first period, then the Gamblers took control with four in the second, from Eli Sebastian, Raimonds Vitolins, Clark and DeMarsico.
Clark scored again for the Gamblers at 2:03 of the third period to give the home team a 6-0 lead.
The Lumberjacks countered with three late goals from Tyler Hotson, David Hymovitch and Michael Callow, who all collected their second tallies of the season.
Muskegon got assists from Hotson, Jake Richard, Gavin McCarthy, Matthew Morden and William Hughes.
Green Bay goalie Kristoffer Eberly stopped 22 of 25 shots to collect the win. Lumberjacks netminder Noah Rupprecht took the loss, stopping 30 of 36 shots.
Green Bay scored on three of four power play opportunities while the Jacks failed to score on two chances.
