Week 4 Preview

October 13, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL)Fargo Force News Release

The Force head down south for a two-stop weekend with games on Friday and Saturday night, against the Sioux City Musketeers, and Sioux Falls Stampede, respectively.

The Musketeers are the defending Clark Cup Champions; however, with a new Head Coach and GM they’ve gotten off to a slow 0-3 start so far in the 2022-23 season, dropping both of their games at the USHL Fall Classic, 4-2 to Green Bay and 7-4 to Chicago followed by a 2-1 loss to Des Moines this past weekend at their home opener. This will be the first matchup between the Force and the Musketeers so far this season.

Currently topping the point chart for Sioux City is forwad Colin Kessler with 1 goal and 3 assists followed by Kaden Shahan with 3 goals. Former Force forward Grant Slukynsky leads the way for the Musketeers as the team’s captain.

Sioux Falls made the trip to Fargo last weekend for the Home Opener on Saturday, October 8. After a hard-fought battle on both sides the Stampede ultimately came away with the 4-3 shootout victory. The Stampede are on a 3-game winning streak and currently tied with Lincoln and Tri-City for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Leading the way for Sioux Falls are Samuel Harris (5G-2A) and Maddox Flemming (1G-5A). North Dakota native Jackson Panzer played a big role in the Stampede’s SO win against Fargo with a primary assist on Sioux Falls’ first goal of the contest and tying the game up with an unassisted shorthanded goal midway through the third.

The Force look to improve on their 2-1-0-1 record this weekend against their two of their biggest division rivals. Leading scorers Cole Knuble (3G, 1A), Harper Bentz (1G, 3A), and Kyle Smolen (1G, 3A) look to continue their momentum at an over-a-point-per-game pace.
