Sioux City Musketeers Announce Captains

Sioux City, IA – The Sioux City Musketeers have announced their captains for the 2022-23 season. Grant Slukynsky was named captain, the alternates consist of defenseman Garrett Brown and forwards Sam Deckhut and Ben Doran.


Grant Slukynsky is in his second season with the Sioux City Musketeers and his fourth in the USHL.

Last season Slukynsky tallied 19 points, divvying up the total between 10 goals and 19 assists across 62 games. The Warroad, Minnesota native has an assist through three contests this season. He is committed to Northern Michigan.

Garrett Brown was the lone defenseman chosen. Brown was selected in the 4th round of the 2022 NHL draft by the Winnipeg Jets and is committed to the University of Denver.

Brown is in his third season with Sioux City and in the USHL. Last year he played in 62 games, tallied 16 points on 12 assists and four goals. This season he currently leads all Sioux City Defensemen with a plus/minus of +2.

Sam Deckhut is in his second season with the Musketeers. Last year he played in 58 games and scored 22 points with four goals and 18 assists.

The San Diego, California is now committed to The Ohio State University.

Ben Doran is the most tenured Sioux City Musketeer of the group. He has donned the green and yellow for four seasons. He has played in 130 games and counting. Last season the Chesterfield, Missouri native scored 17 goals, including a career high 13. He’s amassed 41 career points with 30 of them coming last year.

Doran is committed to play at Bowling Green University.

According to Musketeers head coach, Jason Kersner, the selection process was done with numerous factors in play. Each player was given a survey asking to name teammates who they felt best fit different characteristics of leadership and the captains were chosen off of the most popular answers.
