LAFC Releases Music Video for 2022 Playoff Them: DJ Flict X Cypress Hill X Shavo “Reppin the City”
October 10, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) was born and raised at the intersection where sport meets culture, and there is no greater expression of this than the stories and music created by some of L.A.’s most iconic music artists. LAFC today released the music video for the Club’s 2022 Playoff anthem: DJ Flict x Cypress Hill x Shavo “Reppin The City” featuring multiplatinum hip hop group Cypress Hill, fronted by B-Real, Eric “Bobo” Correa, and Sen Dog, and bassist Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down), produced by Grammy-nominated producer DJ Flict.
“Cypress Hill and Shavo, from System Of A Down, were the perfect mashup and grit I needed to produce a playoff anthem,” said Chris “Flict” Aparri. “When you watch an LAFC match you are overtaken by the hype and intensity of The 3252 supporters union, so the track had to match that. I’m honored to have worked with these legends. It’s amazing that we share the same passion for LAFC and you can feel it when you listen to “Reppin the City.”
The inspiration for this unqiue collaboration was generated from the artists’ deep-rooted passion for LAFC. B-Real, Eric “Bobo” Correa, Shavo and DJ Flict are dedicated supporters of the Club and are regularly in attendance at home matches at Banc of California Stadium. B-Real, Eric “Bobo” Correa and Shavo have participated in the 3252 Supporters’ drumline during LAFC games.
“Cypress Hill is native to LA,” said B-Real. “We went to an LAFC match and knew there was something special happening and we wanted to be a part of it. It’s an honor to co-create an iconic anthem for LAFC and for the city of Los Angeles.”
“We are all from LA and stand by our home team,” said Shavo Odadjian. “I’ve loved soccer as a sport for years and found a bond with LAFC from my first match. The energy was intoxicating and infectious. It was an honor to be a part of making this track!”
B-Real and DJ Flict teamed up with Kid Ink earlier this year when they dropped LAFC’s 2022 anthem “Do It For LA” prior to the launch of the season.
“The LAFC community is a creative force, we are thrilled to not only be collaborating with iconic LA music artists, but to be collaborating with genuine LAFC superfans,” said Rich Orosco, LAFC Chief Brand Officer. “B Real, Bobo, Sen Dog, Shavo, and DJ Flict are all in with LAFC, and you can feel it in this anthem.”
