Head-to-Head:

Another Eastern Conference battle with Kingston means we have to go a while back since these two teams last took the ice together, November 15th, 2019. Over the last 8 games span, Kitchener does hold the advantage with a 3-2-1-1 record since the 2016-17 season and a more favourable road record going 2-1-0-1. Three of the Eight meeting between these two have needed overtime or a shootout and six of the eight have been decided by just one goal. It is always a close battle when these two teams meet.

Scouting the Rangers:

Forward Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) extended his point streak to 3 games adding two more goals in Friday’s meeting with the Ottawa 67’s. Mattew Sop followed suit adding 2 assists. Carson Rehkopf has started to heat up recording points in his last two games. In these two teams last meeting, veteran forward Reid Valade scored the shootout winner giving Kitchener a 4-3 win. This wil be his team leading 197h appearance for the Blueshirts including the regular season and playoffs.

Defenceman Jack Harper played in his milestone 100th career regular season game Friday night in Ottawa. 34 of those games have come for the East Avenue blue across two separate stints.

Tomas Hamara (Ottawa Senators), Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) and Roman Schmidt (Tampa Bay Lightning) are three Kitchener skaters that are both drafted and signed by their NHL clubs respectively.

Scouting the Frontenacs:

Forward Francesco Arcuri (Dallas Stars) leads the Frontenac attack this season as the leading point scorer from a season ago from the roster returnees. Francesco posted 74 points (34G, 40A) in 66 games last season, which is good for a 1.12 points per game pace. Goaltender Ivan Zhigalov (Colorado Avalanche) enters Sunday with the league’s second-best goals against average at 1.96 and leads in save percentage posting 0.941through three games this season.

The Frontenacs have five NHL draftees on their roster this season. Forwards Francesco Arcuri (Dallas Stars) and Paul Ludwinski (Chicago Blackhawks). Defencemen Braden Haché (Florida Panthers) and Ben Roger (Ottawa Senators). Goaltender Ivan Zhigalov (Colorado Avalanche).
