Tigers Open Us Road Trip with a Win in Everett
October 8, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL) – Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Everett, WA – The Medicine Hat Tigers found their way to an opening US Division Road Trip win over one of the Top Ranked Teams in the CHL with a 6-3 win over the Everett Silvertips Friday Night.
For the 4th straight game the Tigers opened the scoring as it was a period of first WHL goals for the Tigers. First it was Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) picking up the first puck of the night as he takes an Alex Drover feed to beat Braden Holt to make 1-0 at 8:44. Next up is Shane Smith who is opportunistic after a Reid Andresen point shot to double the Tigers lead to 2-0 at 9:52. Medicine Hat would take a 2-0 lead heading into the 1st intermission.
The Tigers wouldn’t waste time early on in the second as Lindstrom notched his second point of the night and season as he found Drover at the side of the Everett net to make 3-0 Tigers just 1:52 into the 2nd. That would chase Everett starter Braden Holt who made 9 saves on 12 Tiger shots before being relieved by Tim Metzger. The goalie change added some momentum for the Silvertips as Austin Roest and a Jack Berezowski power play goal would get Everett close at 3-2. But Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) scores a late power play goal for the roadside to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead after two.
Off to the third as Everett pushed the pace but the Tigers bent but never broke as the Tips would get another goal on the man advantage thanks to Roest’s 2nd goal of the game to make it 4-3. But a too many men on the ice penalty with less than five minutes to go would give Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA) a homecoming to remember as he wires a one timer past Metzger to give the Tigers some much needed insurance and a 5-3 lead. Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) would finish the job for the Tigers scoring an empty netter and sealing the win over Everett.
Beckett Langkow would make 34 saves in the win to even his record to 2-2, while the Tigers Power Play went 2/4 with the Man Advantage while the penalty kill was 5/7.
Next up for the Orange and Black is a trip to Oregon and a date with the Portland Winterhawks Saturday night. Catch all the action on the home of the Tigers Wild 94.5 with Gino De Paoli starting with the pre-game show at 6:45.
