Fighters Sign Wide Receivers Deshon Williams and BJ Bunn

October 7, 2022 – Indoor Football League (IFL)Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO, Texas – The Frisco Fighters announced today that the team has signed wide receivers Deshon Williams and BJ Bunn.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Williams joins the Fighters after playing with the Tri-City Rush of the Professional Indoor Football Organization in 2021. Williams was also named to the Seatle Seahawks (NFL) 16-man practice squad in September 2021.

“Williams has a big presence at receiver that can block like a tight end, but route run like a wide receiver said head coach Billy Back. “I’m excited to see his game changing abilities be showcased.”

Prior to playing for the Rush, Williams played collegiately at the University of Washington from 2017 to 2018 after transferring from Colorado State-Pueblo. At Colorado State-Pueblo, Williams was a member of the NCAA Division II national championship team. As a true freshman, Williams played in nine games, catching for nine passes for 11 yards.

Bunn, the 6-foot, 205-pound receiver, joins the Fighters after playing for the Carolina Cobras in the National Arena League.

“His rookie season he was one of the top receivers in the arena football league” said Back. “He’s a big, physical kid who can make the dynamic catch. He’s a bully when it comes to blocking and can tote the rock when it’s in his hands as good as any running back. BJ is a player who just loves to play the game and is great for any community.”

Bunn made his Arena Football debut in 2019 with the Philadelphia Soul, where he totaled 650 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. That year, the Soul won the Arena Bowl 32, where Bunn put up 10 catches for 129 yards and one touchdown.

Prior to playing for the Soul, Bunn played collegiately at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. At UNC Pembroke, Bunn totaled 237 receptions for 3,072 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns in only two seasons. Bunn also played on special teams where he totaled 208 yards on kick/punt returner. During his time at UNC Pembroke, he earned Football Gazette All-American, Football Gazette All-Super Region 2, and Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Super Region 2 honors.

The Frisco Fighters return to the field next spring for the 2023 season. Full Squadron Memberships are on sale now. Single-game tickets will be on sale at a later date.
