Storm Hits the Road for Two-Game Weekend

RALSTON, NE. -The Tri-City Storm hits the road for a two-game weekend against the Omaha Lancers and Waterloo Black Hawks. Tonight’s game will feature an in-state rivalry matchup between the Storm and the Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Puck drop for the game is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.


Tri-City (2-0-0-0) returns to action tonight for the first time since posting a two-game sweep over the Madison Capitols and Muskegon Lumberjacks at the 2022 DICK’S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic last month. Goal scorers for Tri-City at the Fall Classic included Kieran Cebrian (2), Graham Gamache (2), Tanner Adams, Trevor Connelly, Nick Roukounakis, David Sacco, Sebastian Törnqvist, and Cale Ashcroft. Ashcroft, Connelly, Gamache, and Törnqvist each netted a powerplay goal during the event. Gamache also scored the Storm’s only shorthanded goal during the opening two games of the regular season. Sebastian Wraneschitz and Karlis Mezsargs each recorded a win in goal for the Storm during the event. Earlier this week, Connelly and Mezsargs each announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future. Connelly committed to Providence College, and Mezsargs committed to UMass Lowell. Tonight’s game will be the first game in this year’s twelve-game season series between the Storm and the Lancers. Tri-City won seven of ten games played against Omaha during the 2021-2022 regular season. The two in-state rivals battled during the Western Conference Semifinal Round of the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs. The Storm swept the Lancers by winning the first two games in the best-of-three series. Tri-City defeated Omaha by a final score of 4-1 on September 15th, 2022, at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in the team’s only battle against each other during the preseason schedule.

Omaha (1-0-1-0) hosts the Storm tonight at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena for the team’s annual Home Opener. The Lancers split games at the USHL Fall Classic two weekends ago. Omaha dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Team USA in the opening game of the regular season on Saturday, September 24th. The Lancers bounced back with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Dubuque Fighting Saints the next day. Goal scorers for Omaha at the Fall Classic included Alex Bump (2), Griffin Jurecki, Braydon Beahm, and Evan Werner. Michael Hrabal played both games in net for the Lancers at the Fall Classic. He stopped 73 of 76 shots faced in the event. Omaha will conclude play this weekend with a road game tomorrow night at the Ice Box against the Lincoln Stars.
