Bolanos Nominated for USL League One September Player of the Month

October 5, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1)Richmond Kickers News Release

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Wednesday that Richmond Kickers’ forward Jonathan Bolanos is nominated for the league’s player of the month award for September.

Bolanos earns his second player of the month nomination in 2022 after previously earning a nod for his performances during the month of June.

The third-year pro’s signature performance of the month came on September 7th when he was involved in all three goals in the Kickers’ 3-1 come-from-behind victory over South Georgia Tormenta FC. He dished out Emiliano Terzaghi’s second-half equalizer before scoring the game-winner and stoppage-time insurance goal to kill the match off.

Later in the month, Bolanos made history when he assisted Ethan Bryant’s goal on September 24th against Central Valley Fuego FC. It marked his 11th assist of the season which broke Arturo Rodriguez’s single-season assist record set in 2019.

He now sits one assist away from tying the club record for most assists in a single season (12) set by Ruben Espinoza in 1996.

In total, Bolanos finished the month with a team of the week nod in week 24 while he amassed two goals and two assists. He now ranks tied for second on the Kickers with six goals scored with Matthew Bentley – good for a share of 14th highest in the league.

The Kickers have two matches left in the regular season beginning with a road match on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Forward Madison FC before returning home to host Greenville in the USL League One regular-season finale. The club will host Fan Appreciation Night that night. Kickoff on Oct. 15 is set for 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at richmondkickers.com/tickets.
