Chicago Fire FC to Celebrate 25th Anniversary, Close out 2022 Season against New England Revolution on Sunday

CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC will face off against the New England Revolution on Decision Day in the final match of the 2022 MLS regular season at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Kickoff against the Revolution is slated for 1:30 p.m. CT and tickets to the game are available here. The contest will also be televised live on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM. The Club will celebrate its 25th anniversary throughout the weekend, culminating with the match against New England followed by a postgame concert.


It will be the 69th encounter between the two teams, who have both been eliminated from participating in the 2022 MLS Playoffs. Chicago holds a 17-7-10 series record at home, registering 65 goals to New England’s 43. Led by head coach Bruce Arena, New England (10-12-11, 41 points) is coming off a 2-1 victory against Atlanta United at Gillette Stadium. With the win, Arena becomes the first coach in MLS history to record 250 regular season wins.

Chicago (10-15-8, 38 points) returns home after a 3-2 victory on the road against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium on Saturday. The match featured a brace by 18-year-old Colombian international Jhon Durán, as well as a goal and two assists from 19-year-old Homegrown midfielder Brian Gutiérrez. With the brace, Durán leads the Fire in scoring with eight goals so far this season and is now the 12th player in MLS history to record at least 10 combined goals and assists in a single season at the age of 18 or younger. He also becomes the third player in MLS history to record three multi-goal games before turning 19, joining Eddie Gaven and Ricardo Pepi.

25th Anniversary Celebration Welcome Event – Saturday, Oct. 8

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Club will host a welcome event during which all RSVP’d alumni (see complete alumni list here) will be available to media from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. CT at the Club’s downtown offices located at 1 N Dearborn St. Media interested in attending must RSVP to Megan O’Keefe, Senior Manager of Communications, at [email protected] by Friday, Oct. 7 at 12:00 p.m. CT.

Fire Match and Post-Game Concert – Sunday, Oct. 9

Prior to the match, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to receive autographs and take photos with Fire alumni, including former players such as Chris Armas, DaMarcus Beasley, Mike Magee, Pável Pardo, Brian McBride, and two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and Balon d’Or winner Hristo Stoichkov.

Immediately following the game, the Club will host a special post-match concert featuring Puerto Rican singer and rapper, Lunay. Match tickets include access to the concert and details on updated seating and special meet-and-greet opportunities for the concert will be available soon.

Commemorative Jersey Auction

During the Oct. 9 match, all Fire players will be wearing commemorative jerseys in honor of the Club’s 25th anniversary. The jerseys will be available to fans via an auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Chicago Fire Foundation’s P.L.A.Y.S. Program.
