Midfielder Henry Ramirez Signed to 2-Year Extension

September 30, 2022 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Kansas City Comets News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO. – The Comets have announced the signing of midfielder Henry Ramirez to a two-year extension today. Ramirez joined the squad for the 2021 season and has appeared in 12 games with Kansas City since. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Ramirez is a Costa Mesa, California native and standout athlete with the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Last season, Ramirez saw his season cut short due to a knee injury after just three games. During the 2021 pre-season Central Cup, Ramirez saw action in three games and chipped in a pair of goals against Dallas and an assist in a 7-3 win over the Ambush. The Comets won the Cup the year, the first of back-to-back Central Cup titles.

Comets owner Brian Budzinski noted Ramirez’s injury and recovery during the announcement of the contract extension. “Henry was just starting to come into his own before he tore his ACL. He has been working extremely hard with Shawn DuMers our Head Athletic Trainer and the Select Physical Therapy team to be ready for the 2nd half of the 2022-2023 MASL Season,” Budzinski said.

For his part, Ramirez couldn’t be happier to remain a Comet. He said “I am extremely grateful to Leo, Bud, and the staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to extend my contract with the organization. KC is home and where home is, so is your heart. I am eager to get back on the field with everyone and expect to have a comeback year to show the fans what I’m capable of.”

As for his injury rehab, he is doing just fine. “Rehab has been going well and I have been blessed to have amazing support from family, friends, teammates, and fans throughout this whole process. I’ve been working very hard and following my surgeon and PT’s advice in order to ensure a 100% healthy comeback. I am feeling great mentally, physically, and spiritually,” he said.
