BOSTON, MA – The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced a series of team scheduled scrimmages and exhibition games that will be played as part of training camp initiatives for all seven PHF clubs ahead of the 2022-23 regular season. The schedule began on Sunday, September 25 and includes another 10 games through Saturday, October 29.
The back-to-back Isobel Cup champion Boston Pride opened the PHF preseason last weekend in action at Northeastern University. It was a homecoming for a pair of Pride veterans McKenna Brand and Lauren Kelly who were teammates in the Huskies program from 2014-18. The Pride have another NCAA scrimmage with Harvard University when they meet the Crimson on Oct. 5. It will be played at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center where Pride captain Jillian Dempsey starred from 2009-13, and newcomer Becca Gilmore spent the past five seasons. The Minnesota Whitecaps will also meet NCAA competition when they match up with the University of Minnesota on Sept. 30. Golden Gophers alumnae on the roster include Stephanie Anderson, Sydney Baldwin, Amanda Leveille, Patti Marshall, and Olivia Knowles who graduated from the program in the fall.
The preseason will also provide new fans with the opportunity to experience the PHF with games hosted in various communities and facilities outside traditional markets. For example, the Pride host the Metropolitan Riveters at Gallo Arena in Bourne, MA on Oct. 8 which coincides with World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend. They will also skate with the Northern Cyclones at Cyclones Arena in Hudson, NH on Oct. 15, and take on the Montreal Force at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT on Oct. 23. The Connecticut Whale will face the Buffalo Beauts at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, NY on Oct. 22, and host the Riveters at their practice facility, the Milford Ice Arena, on Oct. 29. Also on Oct. 29, the Force host the Toronto Six at the Complexe Sportif Guimond in Laval, Quebec. The exhibition schedule also features a weekend series Oct. 14-15 between the Beauts and host Riveters, giving fans their first opportunity to attend games at The Rink at American Dream.
