ICE CHIPS
The Winnipeg ICE are in Prince Albert tonight. It’s the start to a three-game road trip that continues Friday in Swift Current and Saturday in Medicine Hat.
The ICE opened the 68 game 2022-23 Western Hockey League regular season schedule Saturday in Brandon with a 4-3 overtime victory. Zach Benson scored the game winning goal with 6.7 seconds remaining in the extra frame. Josh Medernach scored twice during regulation while Evan Friesen had the other goal. Daniel Hauser made 27 of 30 saves.
Last season, the ICE finished the 2021-22 regular season with a league best 53-10-3-2 record accumulating 111 points and led all WHL teams scoring 317 goals while only giving up 152 against.
ICE VS RAIDERS
The ICE and Raiders will play six times during the regular season (Tonight @ PA / Dec 3 @ Wpg / Jan 18 @ PA / Mar 14 @ PA / Mar 18 @ Wpg / Mar 19 @ Wpg).
Winnipeg had an 5-1-2 record versus Prince Albert during the 2021-22 regular season led by forward Connor McClennon who registered 12 points (6 goals and 6 assists) in 7 games.
