2022 Training Camp: Day 4 Recap

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats held their Rookie Game on Monday, with Team Blue defeating Team Red, 6-2 at the Brandt Centre.

Rookie Game: Team Blue 6, Team Red 2

THE GOALS

First Half

Team Blue 1-0 at 15:46 – Alexander Suzdalev (1) // Suzdalev was stickhandling around the Team Red zone, and while he looked like he briefly lost control of the puck, he was able to corral it, opening the scoring for Team Blue with a nifty shot past Nicolas Rempel.


Team Red 1-1 at 20:05 – Cam Perlinger (1) // Raiden Zacharias won a board battle deep in Team Blue’s end. The puck then went behind the net to Corban Almen who fed it out front to Perlinger who made no mistake burying the puck past Cruz Chase to tie the game up at 1-1.

Second Half

Team Red 1-2 at 2:51 – Cobe Perlinger (1) // Tyler Free broke in on his off-wing and sent a pass to Perlinger who tucked home the goal to give Team Red a 2-1 lead.

Team Blue 2-2 at 5:43 – Brayden Barnett (1) // While on the rush, Barnett fired a nice shot from just inside the blue line that went bar down to tie the game up at 2-2.

Team Blue 3-2 at 7:04 – Brayden Barnett (2) // Barnett’s initial shot was stopped but as he was on the doorstep he found the rebound and buried his second of the game.

Team Blue 4-2 at 10:20 – Brayden Barnett (3) // Barnett completed the hat-trick with a wicked wrist shot from the outside of the circle.

Team Blue 5-2 at 14:27 – Alexander Suzdalev (2) // Suzdalev scored his second of the game on a penalty shot where he faked between the legs and tucked a backhander past Sam Fontaine to give Team Blue a 5-2 lead.

Team Blue 6-2 at 20:32 – Mitchell McEachern (1) // McEachern joined the rush, got in deep, and fired home a wrist shot to extend Team Blue’s lead to four goals.

Team Blue: Cruz Chase (25 shots/23 saves)

Team Red: Nicolas Rempel (11 saves/12 shots) and Sam Fontaine (10 saves/15 shots)
