2022 Tiger-Cats Team Awards Announced

The Canadian Football League announced the 2022 team award winners Wednesday, including the six Hamilton Tiger-Cats selections.

MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER – WR TIM WHITE
White, 28, was named Hamilton’s Most Outstanding Player for the first time in his career. White has appeared in all 17 games this season and currently ranks among the league leaders in various categories, including first in receptions (94), fourth in receiving yards (1265), and tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns (8) with one game to play. White was also named a CFL Top Performer of the Week for both Weeks 11 and 19.

MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE PLAYER – LB JOVAN SANTOS-KNOX
Santos-Knox, 28, was named the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the first time in his career. The 6-2, 233-pound linebacker has started in all 17 games for the Tiger-Cats this season and ranks third in the league in defensive plays (113). With one game remaining on the schedule, Santos-Knox has registered 105 defensive tackles, one interception, one quarterback sack, and four pass knock downs.
With one game remaining, Santos-Knox is just nine defensive tackles away from tying the single-season record for the Tiger-Cats at 114.

MOST OUTSTANDING CANADIAN – DB TUNDE ADELEKE
Adeleke, 27, was named the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Canadian for the second consecutive season and second time in his career. The 5-10, 208-pound defensive back from Ottawa, Ontario ranks third on the Tiger-Cats in defensive plays this season with 78 and has registered 66 total tackles, one quarterback sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and eight pass knockdowns.

*MOST OUTSTANDING OFFENSIVE LINEMAN – OL BRANDON REVENBERG
Revenberg, 29, is an unanimous selection for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for the second consecutive season and third time in his career, also earning a nomination back in 2018. The 6-4, 301-pound offensive lineman started 16 games for the Tiger-Cats this season, missing just one game due to injury. Revenberg was a finalist for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2018 and 2021, and was named the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Canadian in 2019.

MOST OUTSTANDING SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER & MOST OUTSTANDING ROOKIE – K SETH SMALL
Small, 22, has kicked in 12 games so far this season. He currently stands at second in the league in field goal percentage (90.0%), converting 36 of his 40 kicks while also making 23 out of 24 convert attempts (95.8%) with one game to play. Small matched a Tiger-Cats franchise record for longest field goal with his 58-yarder against Toronto at BMO Field on August 28.

The winners were selected by their respective CFL city’s voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC), as well as their team’s head coach. Voters were tasked with selecting players whose on-field performances best represent the team’s Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Canadian, Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, Most Outstanding Rookie, and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.
Beginning at 6 p.m. local, the evening is one of the flagship events in the lead-up to the country’s largest single-day sporting event – the Grey Cup. The 2022 Grey Cup Festival opens on Tuesday, November 15 in Saskatoon before moving to Regina from Wednesday to Saturday.
